Overall Purpose of the Role:
The Junior Marketing Manager will support the marketing team in executing marketing strategies and campaigns to drive audience engagement and lead generation for emap’s Emerald division.
The role involves creating, implementing, reporting and continuously improving email marketing, social media marketing, web marketing and event marketing campaigns. It also involves creating copy and basic design assets and lead generation campaigns to promote the sales of our brands’ ad media packages.

The ideal candidate will have experience in publishing, preferably B2B publishing, and will be adept at organising participation in trade fairs.
Strong organisational skills are essential for managing personal tasks and coordinating the activities of a small team (with broad support from the Head of Marketing and Subscription Marketing Manager).

This role covers the marketing of leading brands within the portfolio, which currently includes AV Magazine, Packaging News, Electronics Weekly, Motor Trader, Independent Retail News and DFNI. These titles are controlled circulation (free) subscriptions and as the Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for the growth in free subscriptions and engagement across the brands.
The brand extensions include events and bespoke “client solutions”. You will work closely with the sponsorship team on the client solutions to provide marketing support. The mix includes webinars, reports, round tables, meetings, and some events.

As the Junior Marketing Manager across the brands, you will create award-winning marketing campaigns to drive exponential growth in subscriber numbers, increase web engagement from subscribed and non-subscribed users, increase the share of subscribed traffic over overall traffic, increase reach, engagement and click-through from emails and social media. Retention of our existing subscriber base is an important part of this role.
You will need creative flair and exceptional analytical skills to be able to determine which channels will yield the best returns.


Key responsibilities:
Develop and execute email marketing campaigns to engage and grow the audience.
Manage social media marketing efforts across various platforms.
Create compelling copy and basic design assets for marketing materials.
Plan and implement marketing and lead generation campaigns.
Coordinate and review the tasks of a small marketing team.
Organise and manage participation in trade fairs and industry events.
Monitor and analyse campaign performance to optimise results.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure cohesive marketing strategies.
Drive subscriber acquisition, and engagement performance
Measure and review performance within key ROI and KPI criteria to increase lead generation, conversion, and retention rates.
Create compelling, needs-based campaigns that articulate the value of our brands and the brand propositions, working within brand guidelines.
Use multi-channel media, including on and offline.
Ensure subscriptions are represented across all the relevant platforms: events – awards\conferences webpages\bespoke events.
Ensure promotional collateral is available at all key internal and external events.
Work with external agencies including PPC and design.
Use all relevant internal channels to cross-promote subscriptions and events.
Work within agreed customer metrics and KPI’s (opens, clicks, CPR, CPA etc.) to pro-actively manage the customer base.
Co-ordinate activity across multiple channels including email, web, print, events, and social media to ensure consistency of message.
Develop customer data builds, usage, and analytics to increase effective targeting, response/ conversion rates (an ability to interrogate date – segment, analyse).
Use market intelligence and customer insight and analysis to increase understanding of our audiences and effectiveness of our campaigns.
Work with editorial, data, digital, insight, retention, and corporate teams to use all tools, techniques, and touch points to maximise sales effectiveness and create consistent campaign messages across all contact points.

Skills and experience:
Proven academic or accredited professional course covering all marketing areas, including a keen understanding of email, social, web, SEO, PPC marketing, content marketing, purchase behaviour, online user behaviour, online engagement behaviour, online user experience, lead generation
Proven experience in email marketing and social media marketing.
Strong copywriting and basic design skills.
Experience in planning and executing marketing campaigns.
Background in publishing, with a preference for B2B publishing.
Experience in organising and managing participation in trade fairs.
Proficiency in marketing analytics and performance tracking tools.
Proven experience organising, monitoring and reviewing tasks and workload for self and others.
Proven track record in direct marketing.
Experience of working within a data-focused environment, ideally within publishing, where you will have gained experience in target-driven marketing.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical skills and use of excel/data packages, at an intermediate level.
Excellent understanding of database structure.
Understanding of web analytics (professional familiarity with Google Analytics 4 essential, including creating and editing complex reports and explorations)
Campaign management and digital marketing experience in B2B.
Excellent understanding and direct experience of acquisition and renewals of B2B publications for print and digital publications.
