About the Role
As we actively expand, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with an academic, scientific, or biomedical engineering background to take on an exciting and rare opportunity at the leading provider of non-invasive brain stimulation solutions.
Working with renowned laboratories and key opinion leaders worldwide, and with access to state-of-the-art equipment for neuromodulation (TMS, tES, and TUS), neuroimaging (EEG, fNIRS, OPM-MEG, and MRI-compatible systems), and other complimentary solutions, you will be able to apply your research skills and experience in a commercial setting and influence the development of emerging technologies in non-invasive brain stimulation.
This is a full-time, office-based role, located at our headquarters in Cardiff.

Roles & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Customer Support Manager, the Scientific Applications Specialist will:
Provide technical and application support to customers and end users of Brainbox-supplied systems across various research and clinical settings;
Support colleagues and distribution partners with technical expertise to aid sales activities;
Introduce Brainbox solutions and services to potential and existing customers through pre-sales demonstrations and customer training (online and in person);
Develop support materials such as application notes, operating manuals, case studies, and training videos to enhance both support and sales activities;
Monitor and evaluate research and clinical publications related to Brainbox products and services;
Contribute to the creation of marketing content to promote the company’s offering;
Liaise with suppliers to gather technical information, coordinate customer support, and prioritise product development;
Represent Brainbox at scientific conferences and exhibitions;
Prepare and deliver presentations at Brainbox events on topics such as fundamental principles, latest research, integrated applications, and practical demonstrations, as well as design and run hands-on training sessions;
Participate in off-site studies and experiments with customers, end users, and other applicable third parties;
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of neuroscience research techniques through academic and professional journals and, where appropriate, by attending educational courses and events;
Provide regular internal reporting on these areas of responsibility; and
Undertake other tasks as requested by senior managers.
Essential Criteria
MSc in a relevant subject area or at least two years of applicable work experience.
Practical experience using at least one of the following non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) or imaging techniques: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS); Transcranial Electric Stimulation (tES); Transcranial Ultrasound Stimulation (TUS); Electroencephalography (EEG); Functional Near-infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS); Magnetoencephalography (MEG / OPM-MEG); or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
Experience using MATLAB, Python, or another coding language for experimental control, interfacing with external devices, and using serial commands.
Demonstrable ability to explain complex technical concepts to both experienced and inexperienced audiences, in both spoken and written formats.
Ability to carry out manual handling tasks to facilitate system testing, customer installations, training, and exhibition displays (equipment and training provided).
Willingness to travel, including internationally.
