Job Summary

We are the UKHSA's Emergency, Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) Training team, and we are looking for outstanding people to join us to deliver our priorities. Firstly, in upskilling UKHSA's workforce and, secondly, our mission with key partners (including the NHS and other services) across the country and beyond.

The EPRR Training team is sited within the EPRR Division, within the National Operations & EPRR directorate. The team works closely with the EPRR Exercise team and EPRR Quality, Standards & Improvement team in delivering training across a range of programmes related to EPRR. You will work with these teams to lead the development of provision that is of the highest quality, commands the confidence of the EPRR sector, and remains agile to incorporate lessons learned, to inform future exercises.

EPRR training provision includes the nationally recognised and accredited Level 4 Diploma in Health Emergency Preparedness and Response (HEPRR) and Level 3 Education & Training qualification, as well as Loggist training and more

As a Senior Training Manager, you will be a critical part of the delivery and leadership teams in EPRR Training; a team of outstanding colleagues including a Head of Training, Senior Training Managers, Training Managers and Training Coordinators.

Main duties of the job

Lead the project management of and be responsible for the preparation, delivery and evaluation of a range of courses for other healthcare professionals in Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) and related areas.
Create, design, and produce a range of EPRR course materials, working with EPRR Training team members and other stakeholders ensuring these align with agreed standards in EPRR training.
Conduct regular training needs analysis in order to determine the most relevant and cost-effective portfolio of training for EPRR within UKHSA and for its external partners.
Analyse the outcomes of online and face to face training programmes, by assimilating feedback data into written reports for internal and external customers and others in a timely manner.
Ensure stakeholders are appropriately informed of the programme offer, leading Training Coordinators to support appropriate promotion and communications.
Responsibility for the line management, coaching & mentoring of team members, including welfare and personal development.
Hold delegated responsibility for designated budget in respect of the delivery of appropriate training projects and courses.
Liaise with awarding bodies and manage the system of national accreditation for emergency preparedness courses in relation to primary qualifications and continuous professional development.

Job responsibilities

Senior EPRR Training Manager and play a pivotal role in safeguarding the nations health. This is an exciting opportunity to lead, innovate, and shape Emergency Preparedness, Resilience, and Response (EPRR) training on a national and global stage.

As a Senior EPRR Training Manager, you will oversee the development and delivery of cutting-edge EPRR training programmes, blending online and face-to-face sessions tailored to healthcare professionals. Youll manage complex projects, design high-quality course materials, conduct needs analyses, and evaluate the impact of training initiatives. Your role will include frequent UK travel, occasional international engagements, and the chance to make a tangible difference in EPRR.

Youll also lead and inspire a talented team, providing coaching and mentoring to ensure their professional growth, while managing budgets and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. Your commitment to innovation and excellence will set the standard for quality in adult learning and EPRR training.

With a focus on collaboration, youll work closely with internal and external partners, including NHS England, government departments, and international organisations. If youre a skilled educator with an interest in public health and a proven track record in adult learning, wed love for you to join our dedicated team at UKHSA and contribute to protecting the public from all health threats and hazards.

Whilst in post, you will lead complex projects encompassing the development and delivery of health focused EPRR training, which will include both online and face to face activities. This will require frequent travel throughout the UK to attend meetings and to deliver exercise and training events.

You Will Be:

Required to demonstrate substantial experience of education and training in the adult learning sector and in leading and managing complex education, training, or learning programmes.
You must hold a teaching/training qualification at Level 5 or above and have significant recent experience in training adults.

Occasionally, the role will require international travel for emergency preparedness exercise and training events, which will require a flexible approach to working hours.

Minimum teaching/training qualification at Level 5
Experience of managing teaching/training provision for adult learners.
Experience of management, planning, designing, delivery, and evaluation of training/education.
Effective communicator, both verbally and in written form.
Experience of communicating with and presenting to diverse audiences with a range of learning needs.
Experience of internal and external stakeholder management.
Flexible approach to working arrangements and able to work away from home; including possession of a current passport or wiliness to obtain one, and able to travel by air to international events.
