Solution Architect - Application

Rate - £725 Inside IR35
Location - Southampton – once a week minimum on site
Duration - 6 month initial contract

This assignment is required to operate through an Umbrella company and all employer, employee tax and NI will be deducted from the rate.
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Solution Architect to join one of our clients’ growing teams. This is an exciting opportunity for a technology leader to play a pivotal role in shaping, designing, and delivering robust, scalable application architectures across a range of complex enterprise solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead end-to-end solution design for business-critical applications.
Translate business and technical requirements into coherent architectural designs.
Define application architectures in alignment with enterprise strategy, governance, and standards.
Collaborate with stakeholders including business analysts, developers, testers, and project managers to ensure delivery success.
Provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle.
Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and platforms to support solution needs.
Ensure non-functional requirements (performance, security, scalability, maintainability) are met.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven experience as a Solution Architect in enterprise-scale application environments.
Strong background in software development and application design.
Familiarity with modern architectural patterns (e.g. microservices, event-driven, API-first).
Knowledge of integration technologies and platforms (REST, SOAP, message queues).
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
Desirable:
TOGAF or equivalent architectural certification.
Background in Agile/DevOps environments.
Sector experience in [insurance / finance / public sector / retail – adjust as needed].
