Role: Automation TesterLocation: Northampton
Duration: End of December 2025
IR35 status: Mandated PAYE
Fortice are looking for an experienced Automation Test Engineer to join a team working on complex projects within the banking domain. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining automation scripts, ensuring smooth test execution, and collaborating closely with both technical and functional teams.
Key responsibilities:
Develop automation scripts using Java, Selenium, Cucumber, and JQuery
Review gherkin-based test cases and set up necessary pre- and post-test conditions
Execute automated tests, document results, and track progress
Identify and raise defects with clear, detailed documentation
Provide visual documentation (eg, flowcharts, mind maps) to support test design
Support the transition of stabilized automation scripts to release and feature teams
Communicate regularly with stakeholders, manage issues, and keep deliverables on track
Offer guidance to team members on technical questions or challenges
What we're looking for:
Hands-on experience in automation testing with Selenium, Java, Cucumber, and JQuery
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Jenkins setup
Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving abilities
Ideally, exposure to the banking domain and a good understanding of HTML DOM structures
Strong communication and teamwork skills
