Backend Engineer (Node.js / TypeScript) – AI Design Platform
£60,000 - £75,000 p/a + benefits
Location - Bristol (3-days per week onsite)

We’re hiring a Backend Engineer to join a lean, talented team building a revolutionary AI-powered design platform used by architects and designers to generate high-quality visual representations in seconds — not days. Our browser-based product is transforming workflows and already has thousands of active users generating tens of thousands of images.

What You'll Do

Own and develop backend services using Node.js and TypeScript
Build and maintain scalable, production-ready APIs
Work with AWS services (S3, Docker, Lambda desirable)
Occasionally contribute to fullstack features using React
Collaborate with a small, fast-moving team in an Agile environment
Get involved in shaping product direction and feature design
Optionally explore AI/ML workflows if of interest (Python helpful)

What We’re Looking For

3–4+ years' experience in backend web development
Strong skills in Node.js/TypeScript, web APIs, and cloud infrastructure
Experience with RDBMS (Postgres preferred)
Comfortable working independently — minimal hand-holding needed
Bonus: experience with React, NestJS, AI tools, or interest in GenAI
A product mindset — you care about what you’re building and why
