About Us:
Ruby UK is a leading eCommerce business in the home, timber, and garden industry. As a rapidly growing online retailer, we are constantly improving our digital infrastructure to provide seamless user experiences and drive online sales. We are looking for a talented and driven Shopify Developer to join our growing team and take ownership of the technical development and performance of our Shopify stores.
Role Overview:
As a Shopify Developer, you will be responsible for developing, customising, and optimising our Shopify websites to enhance customer experience, improve conversion rates, and ensure smooth site functionality. You will work closely with the marketing and design teams to implement new features, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the store remains scalable and efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and maintain custom Shopify themes, ensuring responsive and performant user experiences
Create and implement custom sections, templates, and Liquid scripts
Collaborate with designers and marketing to turn mockups and UX designs into functional store components
Integrate and customise third-party Shopify apps or APIs to extend site functionality
Optimise website speed, SEO structure, and mobile performance
Implement A/B testing and CRO improvements across templates and user journeys
Maintain site health through regular audits, debugging, and QA testing
Work with Shopify Plus (if applicable) to utilise advanced features like B2B access, scripts, and checkout customisation
Ensure smooth integrations with tools such as Linnworks, Google Tag Manager, Klaviyo, and other internal systems
Maintain version control using Git or similar tools and follow structured deployment practices
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven experience developing on the Shopify platform (Shopify Plus is a bonus)
Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and Liquid
Experience working with JSON, REST APIs, and third-party integrations
Understanding of Shopify’s limitations and how to work around them
Familiarity with performance optimisation tools and techniques
Experience with GA4, GTM, and event tracking is highly desirable
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects to deadlines
Desirable:
Experience with Figma or other design tools
Knowledge of SEO best practices for eCommerce
Familiarity with platforms like Amazon, eBay, and B&Q is a plus
Experience working with version control systems like Git
Previous experience in timber, garden, or home improvement eCommerce is a bonus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
