Job Opportunity: Senior Information Security Officer (Freelance – Long-Term Mission)

Location: Belgium (Hybrid – 2 days/week on-site)

We’re looking for a Senior Information Security Officer to join a fast-growing centre of excellence in AI and Cybersecurity, supporting multiple high-profile internal entities

Your Responsibilities:

Deliver CISO-as-a-Service (CISOaaS) to internal entities to strengthen their security posture.
Support or lead ISO 27001 certification and NIS2 compliance processes.
Conduct cybersecurity assessments (e.g., NIS2, ISO 27001, risk, maturity evaluations).
Develop and maintain security policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Identify threats and risks in existing architecture and propose mitigation strategies.
Advise on cybersecurity risk management and governance programs.
Ensure compliance with internal, contractual, and legal information security requirements.
Provide interim security officer support during IT project implementations.
Define and test crisis management, business continuity, and disaster recovery plans.
Drive security awareness programs across teams.
Respond to customer due diligence inquiries related to security questionnaires.

Your Profile:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field.
5+ years of experience in audit, risk management, information security, and/or IT.
In-depth knowledge of ISO 27000, NIST, ISF, CIS, and NIS2 Directive.
Broad experience across multiple security domains and tools (IAM, vulnerability management, etc.).
Proven track record in ISMS implementations, audits, and risk assessments.
Certified ISO 27001 Lead Auditor/Implementer (or willingness to become certified). Other certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or ISO 9001 are a strong plus.
Cloud security experience (Azure, AWS) is an asset.
Prior experience in the telecom sector is a bonus.
Strong communication and project management skills.
Fluent in Dutch and English (French is a plus).
Based in Belgium, with hybrid work setup (2 days/week at client site).
