Technical Analyst - Financial Services - Manager - Payments - London, Edinburgh

The opportunity

The EY Financial Services Payments team is continuing to grow and develop unique advisory propositions aligned with market needs and demand. We are currently looking for an exceptional manager to deliver on our payments offering for the financial services sectors. This role requires an individual who understands the payments domain and can deliver on the most innovative and challenging engagements, with strong system analytical skills.

By joining the Payments Team, you will work in high-performing teams and collaboratively with our clients to enhance their ability to solve complex business problems by exploiting strategies and solutions unique to the payments domain. You will provide expertise and delivery in the following focus areas, playing your part to shape the future with confidence:

New Payments Platforms and Market Infrastructure Transformation - Working with our clients to design, build, and integrate key capabilities to enable large scale changes for payment infrastructures
Payments Modernization and Tech & Ops Transformation - Helping our client with Front-to-back digitization of payments processes and journeys and E2E transformation delivery from strategy to implementation
Payments Innovation and New Payment Methods Transformation - Supporting our clients on the development of innovative services and propositions to drive new revenue growth lines
Emerging Payments - Helping our clients with the adoption of digital currencies, and digital assets

Your key responsibilities

As a manager, you will:

Lead and oversee the work of solutions architects, developers, and other associates enthusiastic about technical solution design and architecture in payment areas
Take ownership of the creation of technical requirements as part of solution design, articulating them through standardized design artifacts, and ensuring alignment with target architectures, principles, patterns, and standards
Elaborate, assess, and provide consultancy on payment solution options that align with the client's strategy and business objectives
Drive the planning of solution delivery through estimation and identification of dependencies
Manage large and complex projects (payments transformation, payments strategy) from strategy through to execution
Engage with organisations to harness technology and innovation, shaping their technology vision, executing the digital transformation journey, and reinventing businesses to create sustainable value from investments
Work closely with clients to understand their fundamental business challenges in payments, providing insight into the opportunities and challenges facing CIOs and CTOs, focusing on emerging or disruptive trends that have the potential to transform
Provide support for bids, proposals, and client business development workshops
Lead the creation and delivery of presentations to senior client stakeholders and internal leadership teams

People responsibilities

Take responsibility for your own self-development and maintain an educational programme to continually develop personal skills
Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures
Collaborate with internal and external team members to unlock the full power of EY
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, encouraging open communication and knowledge sharing
Mentor and guide junior team members, providing support and feedback to help them grow in their roles

To qualify for the role, you must have

Extensive experience in payment areas, having worked with consulting, PSPs/FinTechs, market infrastructures, and/or challenger banks, and can bring new perspectives to our team
Proven experience delivering across multiple methodologies, including agile, scaled agile, DevOps, etc
Experience working on large technology implementations from a technical perspective within the payment domain
Relevant knowledge and experience in retail/commercial and wholesale payments
Analytical mindset; critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources and design fit-for-purpose technical solutions
Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think through technical solutions
Proficiency in relevant technology tools and platforms used in payments and financial services

Ideally, you'll also have

Deep understanding of the emerging technology trends, including adoption of cloud-based and advanced payment solutions, with a clear perspective and vision to lead the market
Technical development grounding and proven experience developing and implementing software engineering methodologies and tooling
Experience working closely with developers, testers and stakeholders to ensure strategies and solutions are implemented effectively
