Our client Spirax Sarco are looking for an interim Management Account for 2-3 months, starting as soon as possible.

Job Title: Management Accountant
Department: Central Finance
Reports To: Finance Business Partner

Job Summary: The Management Accountant will report to the Finance Business Partner and be responsible for the following areas:
UK Central Departments, Steam Central Departments and EMEA Central Costs
As part of their role, the Management Accountant will be responsible for preparing, developing, and analysing key financial information to ensure that management can make well-informed decisions to ensure future stability, growth, and profitability. This role involves management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis. As part of the Finance Business Partnering team, the role holder will have the opportunity to learn and develop across a number of skills as well as supporting across other business areas as part of this team.

Key Responsibilities:
Management Reporting and Financial Analysis
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly Profit and Loss management accounts and
financial reports for business areas including internal reporting submission to Group.
Preparation of monthly journals required across business areas.
• Support the Finance Business Partner with monthly close meetings and applicable
analysis and context required, providing meaningful analysis and insight. This should
include any variance analysis to budget and forecast and applicable KPIs. Provision of
monthly headcount and payroll cost analysis. Manage capital expenditure and analysis,
variance reporting against budget and forecast where required for business areas.
• Develop and support on financial systems/models as required to support decision
making across the business, investment appraisals, and long-term planning. Support on
scenario analysis requirements for potential business opportunities, risks, and strategic
initiatives.
• Support on project tracking and analysis for both capital and operational expenditure,
ensuring accurate financial reporting and insightful analysis to support decision-making
and project management. Ensure that all project capital and operational expenditures
are monitored, reported, and aligned with budgetary constraints and strategic goals.
• Ownership of monthly balance sheet reconciliation accounts across areas of
management accounting responsibility including resolution of any unreconciled
amounts and alignment to best practice. Ensure that appropriate back up is maintained
to support the non-system journal postings.
• Produce and maintain process documentation for the regular month end routines.
• Ensure that intercompany transactions are initiated and undertaken in accordance with
monthly process and Group recharges policy as well as agreement with intercompany
party.
• Support on modelling and calculation for recharges and apportionments where
required. Coordination with Financial Reporting Teams on cost allocation and recharge
of central shared services’ reporting.

Budgeting and Forecasting
• Preparation and supporting the forecasting and annual budgeting processes, ensuring
business unit strategy business area needs are followed. Support Finance Business
Partner to ensure budgets are aligned.
• Support the Finance Business Partner with quarterly business report preparation,
applicable analysis and context required providing meaningful analysis and insight.
• Coordination with Financial Reporting Teams on cost allocation and recharge of central
shared services’ budgeting and forecasting.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
• Collaborate with other departments to gather, analyse, and interpret relevant financial
data.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
across Finance, the Division, and the broader business. Actively promote the Central
Finance team and its colleagues within the wider organisation.
• Work closely with the Operational and Financial reporting teams across Central Finance
to ensure that processes are in place to support accurate and timely reporting, and that
management accounts and Capital expenditure reporting are prepared consistent with
accounting policies and judgemental areas flagged and agreed. Ensure that costs have
been correctly recognised, raised and classified including any intercompany amounts.

Support and Ad-hoc Tasks
• Support the Finance Manager/Director with ad-hoc financial projects and tasks.
• Support on Purchase Order management across Business areas, ensure that the
business is acting upon items in a timely manner.
• Support on audit queries and process where required.

Qualifications and Skills:

Qualifications and Experience
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
• Experience within the finance department of a commercial organisation.

Technical Skills
• Proficiency in Accounting Software: Familiarity with accounting tools and software.
• Advanced Excel Skills: Confident in Excel for data analysis, financial modelling, and
reporting is essential. Power BI.
• Financial Reporting and Analysis: Ability to prepare and interpret financial reports,
conduct variance analysis, and provide insights for decision-making.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Skills in preparing budgets, forecasts, and reforecasts to
align with business strategies.

Analytical and Strategic Skills
• Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and identify trends.
• Strategic Planning: Ability to support long-term business planning and investment
appraisals.
• Attention to Detail: High accuracy in financial analysis and reporting.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills
• Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication to convey financial
information clearly to stakeholders. Ability to communicate and deliver messaging as
required to non-financial colleagues.
• Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with various departments and build strong
relationships.

workload and deliver to strict timelines.
