Job Summary
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Job Description
The Army Data Analytics Team (ADAT) sit within the Information Directorate and are the TLB leaders in providing Data analytics and Business intelligence.
You will be responsible for integrating data from authoritative sources and the design and development of information displays including reports and dashboards using appropriate technologies, SAS, Oracle, Power BI, Palantir and Tableau. These outputs will be used to support high level decision making and the holding to account of senior decision makers under processes implemented as part of Defence Reform.
You Will:
Apply tools and techniques for data analysis and data visualisation (including the use of business information tools) (Data modelling, cleansing and enrichment)
Summarise and present data and conclusions in the most appropriate format for users (Communicate between the technical and non-technical)
Identify, collect and migrate data to and from a range of systems (Data management)
Manage, clean, abstract and aggregate data alongside a range of analytical studies on that data (Data modelling, cleansing and enrichment)
Manipulate and link different data sets (Logical and creative thinking)
Summarise and present data and conclusions in the most appropriate format for users (Data visualisation)
Your Main Responsibilities Will Include:
Maintain existing dashboards/projects and give help and guidance when required
Analyse data and use this analysis to create and maintain evidence-based visualisations/reports and data models utilising analytics software
Ensure integrated data is displayed accurately, from an authoritative source and the business user is aware of the level of accuracy of the information and the display context of the data
Produce accurate and comprehensive support documentation for all development work
Liaise with Business Analysts to identify solution options, providing advice and recommendations based on data expertise and experience. Liaise with developers who source, collect and extract data to ensure it is accurate and fit for analytical purpose
Understand different system development methodologies to facilitate the ability to work as part of an agile or waterfall project or in day-to-day continuous improvement activities
Support to self-service users and Incident Management for dashboard solutions
Working with business partners to analyse data and use this to create robust and evidence-based visualisations/reports and data models utilising analytics software
Produce the documentation for projects as well as maintaining them throughout its life cycle
