Job Description
**Job Title:** Control Room Operator **Role Summary:** Operate and monitor CCTV, access control, intrusion, fire alarm and building management systems to ensure continuous security surveillance of the entire Olympia site. Log incidents, coordinate responses with on‑site teams and emergency services, and maintain clear communication and documentation across the control room and relevant departments. **Expectations:** - Friendly, professional demeanor with all stakeholders. - Reliable, punctual, flexible; able to work 12‑hour shifts covering days, nights and weekends. - Minimum age 18; possession of required SIA licences. - Leadership capability to supervise a small control room team. - Commitment to continuous training and adherence to security policies. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. **Real‑Time Monitoring & Surveillance** - Operate CCTV, access control, perimeter alarms, fire alarms and building management alerts. - Maintain situational awareness of all estate zones (public areas, venues, hotels, school, F&B, loading bay). 2. **Incident Detection & Response** - Detect and assess incidents, suspicious activity or system anomalies. - Initiate response protocols, dispatch ground teams, notify emergency services, and up‑grade to Control Room Supervisor when required. - Log all incidents and actions in the incident management platform. 3. **Communication & Coordination** - Provide clear radio/telephone communication with on‑site security officers, estate management and emergency responders. - Support evacuation, lockdown and shelter‑in‑place procedures. - Relay critical information to relevant departments. 4. **Technology Operation & Troubleshooting** - Operate advanced security systems and perform basic troubleshooting. - Escalate technical faults to Supervisor or IT support. 5. **Compliance & Data Integrity** - Adhere to SIA licensing conditions, GDPR, ISO 27001 and site safeguarding protocols. - Keep accurate, timestamped logs of all control room activities. 6. **Shift Handover & Reporting** - Conduct thorough handovers, briefing incoming operators on ongoing incidents and system issues. - Prepare and submit daily activity reports and incident summaries. 7. **Training & Continuous Improvement** - Attend regular emergency, system and protocol training. - Participate in post‑incident reviews and recommend operational improvements. **Required Skills:** - Proficient operation of CCTV, access control, intrusion, fire alarm and building management systems. - Strong situational awareness, decision‑making and problem‑solving. - Excellent verbal and written communication; proficient in radio and telephone communications. - Ability to work independently and within a control room team. - Basic troubleshooting of control room equipment. - Leadership and small team supervision. **Required Education & Certifications:** - SIA Guarding or Door Supervision licence (or equivalent). - SIA CCTV licence holder. - Evidence of at least a few years’ experience in a security/control‑room environment (preferred).
