**Job Title:** Purchasing Manager
**Role Summary:**
Responsible for developing and executing procurement and supply chain strategy for a dairy manufacturing operation. Drives supplier relationships, demand forecasting, inventory control, packaging innovation, sustainability initiatives, and warehouse operations to support uninterrupted production.
**Expectations:**
- Lead purchasing and logistics strategy while engaging in day‑to‑day operational tasks.
- Maintain optimal stock levels and material availability for production schedules.
- Manage supplier performance, negotiate contracts, and mitigate supply‑chain risk.
- Supervise warehouse team, overseeing receipt, rotation, inventory control, and safety.
- Champion continuous improvement in packaging design, sustainability, and waste reduction.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, sales, and distribution teams.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. Develop and deliver purchasing and logistics strategy aligned with business objectives.
2. Forecast demand, ensure consistent material supply, and maintain optimal stock levels.
3. Build and sustain strong supplier relationships; negotiate contracts and monitor performance.
4. Lead, manage, and support the warehouse team in daily operations: receipt, rotation, availability, and inventory control.
5. Coordinate packaging design changes and continuous improvement initiatives with internal teams and suppliers.
6. Oversee packaging sustainability activities, reduce environmental impact, and maintain compliance data.
7. Collaborate with distribution to maximize backhaul opportunities and control packaging transport costs.
8. Drive waste‑management and sustainable recycling practices throughout the site.
9. Ensure high standards of health and safety, stock security, and site security.
**Required Skills:**
- Proven experience as a Purchasing, Procurement, or Supply Chain Manager.
- Strong negotiation and supplier‑management capabilities.
- Knowledge of manufacturing (food or FMCG) procurement processes.
- Ability to forecast demand, manage inventory, and drive cost efficiencies.
- Excellent organizational, commercial, and multi‑priority management skills.
- Self‑motivated, proactive, hands‑on, and team‑oriented.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Familiarity with sustainability and packaging innovation best practices.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field.
- Relevant procurement or supply‑chain certification (e.g., CPSM, CPS, CSCP) preferred.
- Class 2 HGV licence or willingness to obtain one is desirable.
