Job Title: Clinical Data Engineer

Location: Remote (USA) EST

About The Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Clinical Data Engineer to join our data engineering team supporting clinical research and development initiatives. This role will focus on building and maintaining robust data pipelines to ingest, transform, and manage clinical trial and operational data across various sources and platforms. The ideal candidate has a strong background in data engineering within a life sciences, with experience supporting GxP or regulated data workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest clinical trial data from multiple internal and external sources (e.g., EDC, CTMS, Labs, ePRO, eCOA, etc.).
Develop and manage data ingestion frameworks to support real-time and batch processing of clinical data.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Clinical Operations, Data Management, Biostatistics, and IT to ensure high-quality data delivery.
Ensure clinical data is transformed and integrated in accordance with data standards (e.g., CDISC, SDTM).
Optimize pipeline performance and reliability for efficient and secure clinical data flow.
Implement and maintain data quality, validation, and monitoring tools to support regulatory requirements and audit readiness.
Partner with internal and external vendors to support clinical data integration from CROs and other sources.
Support the development and deployment of metadata-driven data engineering solutions.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and data privacy requirements (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, 21 CFR Part 11).

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in data engineering, preferably within clinical research, pharma, or healthcare domains.
Strong experience with ETL/ELT tools, data integration, and data ingestion pipelines.
Proficient in SQL, Python, and/or Scala for data engineering tasks.
Experience with cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and tools like Databricks, Snowflake, or Apache Airflow.
Familiarity with clinical data standards (e.g., CDISC, SDTM) is strongly preferred.
Experience working in a regulated environment with knowledge of GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and data privacy standards.
Knowledge of clinical trial systems (e.g., Medidata, RAVE, Veeva Vault, Oracle Clinical).
Experience with data lakes, data warehouses, and modern data architecture concepts.
Familiarity with machine learning or data science frameworks is a plus.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional, global environment.
