Lead IT Infrastructure Engineer(Contract)

Hourly Rate: PS23/Hour (Outside IR35)
Location: Exeter
Contract: 6-month rolling

About the Role:

DataBuzz is recruiting a Lead IT Infrastructure Engineer to join a prestigious organisation. This role is responsible for leading the maintenance and operation of the organisation's IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability across all business locations. You will manage both on-premises VMware and cloud server environments, while working closely with IT colleagues to support, diagnose, and maintain all elements within the infrastructure.

This is an immediate requirement with a streamlined interview process - an initial 20-30 minute CV and experience discussion, followed by a 1-hour technical interview.

What You'll Do:

Lead the maintenance, monitoring, and optimisation of on-premises and cloud server infrastructure.
Manage and support Windows Server operating systems, VMware environments, and network virtualisation.
Provide infrastructure capacity planning and ensure proactive monitoring.
Collaborate with IT colleagues to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
Contribute to IT projects requiring technical expertise and innovative solutions.
Ensure documentation and communication of technical procedures to senior colleagues.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

Proven experience managing on-premises and cloud server infrastructure (Windows Server, VMware).
Strong expertise in deploying and managing virtualised server environments.
Hands-on experience in network deployments, integration, and virtualisation.
Knowledge of capacity planning and use of infrastructure monitoring tools.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documentation for senior stakeholders.
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with emerging technologies.
Full and valid driving licence, with willingness to travel to alternative sites regularly.
