Title: Project Manager - 14 month contract
Reports to: Director, PMO
Location: 9 Napoleon Road, Barrie (hybrid/4 days a week onsite)
Job Purpose: To manage the successful and on time launch of new and/or improved products meeting project objectives (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Function, Scope). Works in close collaboration with the assigned cross functional teams, including championing and executing product/process change notices. Using project management skills and methodologies (Stage Gate, Monday), the Project Manager leads the cross-functional team through the launch phase of the program, assuming responsibility from design and development, business analysis, process verification and throughout stable mass production. The primary focus is on planning and overseeing projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget meeting Napoleon Quality standards. The Project Manager is responsible to planed and designate project resources, prepare budgets, monitor process, project risk management, and keep stakeholders informed throughout the launch of the project following right escalation channels. The Project Manager will ensure the successful introduction of new products and products changes with the production team, (quality, operations, purchasing, manufacturing engineering etc.), ensuring detailed implementation planning has been completed, timing is feasible, parts and resource availability are confirmed, and readiness reviews are completed and that best practices are consistently applied. The Project Manager is the lead for open issues list after Gate 1 is signed and works with the project leaders and administrative assistant to maintain accuracy and regularly follows up with the cross functional team members to ensure task completion.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Responsible for overall project planning & execution, including design, development, budget, feasibility, planning, scheduling, reporting, and managing the master launch schedule(s) for relevant assigned products to ensure launch timing is communicated and feasible for all departments and functions. Where applicable coordinates directly with production sites outside Barrie (International divisional Locations - e.g. China, US, etc.).
Actively participates in the engineering production runs and design reviews for new products to understand the product design, status and potential challenges.
Partners with the CFT to ensure design feasibility, cost targets, successful execution of process and production runs, quality products, project timing and project risks. The Project Manager is responsible for cost, timing, quality, successful launch, system readiness, (resource availability, parts availability, engineering masters structured, etc.) Chairs CFT meetings from Gate 2 onward, and heavily supports Product Management in Gates 0 & 1.
Ensures products are launched on time by thoroughly analyzing launch process, ensure system readiness and resource and component availability. Forecasts new product availability dates and communicates any changes in plan. Where variances exist creates, aligns, and executes recovery plans.
Responsible for planning and managing all required tasks with cross function that are necessary to achieve flawless launch including but not limited to; ensuring parts are set-up correctly in ERP, (cost, material, labor, min quantities etc.), open issues from process build are addressed prior to production, long lead time parts, PPAP's and 1st offs are coordinated with purchasing and quality, cost implosions are complete and accurate, all stage gate tasks are complete etc.
Plans and executes the production run in direct collaboration with the operations team and with support of the leader(s). Ensures thorough readiness reviews are conducted as appropriate but at least 7 business days prior to the run and 48 hours prior to ensure all issues from the process run are closed, all components, work instructions resources etc. are available and in place. Provides direct support to production, (team leader etc.) during the production run and summarizes success compared to target. Records and actions all opportunities for improvement using the appropriate tool, (Monday, CI, CAR etc.) Ensures all deliverables from the production run are complete, (e.g. f
