Rakuten Tech in Europe
Rakuten Tech in Europe, a part of the Rakuten Group's Global Innovation Hub, serves as the regional hub for the European-based members of the Technology Division. We provide and optimize global platforms to support businesses within the Rakuten Ecosystem, tailoring them to specific use cases in Europe and beyond.
With over 130 members across 7 countries and 12 offices, our presence spans France (Paris), Spain (Barcelona), UK (Belfast and London), Estonia (Tallinn), and Germany (Berlin). Our diverse team is formed of more than 20 nationalities and collaborates with all members of the Technology Divisions on a regular basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage hybrid software, hardware, and web-based/SaaS products from concept through final deployment and sustainment
Administer and support Windows and/or Linux-based systems and integrations, ensuring consistent uptime and secure configuration
Support virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and hybrid cloud deployments (e.g., Azure)
Configure and troubleshoot Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and GPOs
Perform routine maintenance: patching, backups, log reviews, and system health checks
Support configuration management and change control processes to ensure integrity of system baselines
Design and implement system improvements and automation
Monitor and respond to incidents, alerts, and user support requests
Coordinate with cybersecurity, software, and helpdesk teams to ensure operational continuity
Act as point of escalation for IT support and major incidents, working with vendors to resolve complex technical issues
Provide subject matter expertise across multidisciplinary teams to ensure interoperability and system performance
Document network/system configurations and standard operating procedures
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency in systems engineering, automation, and network infrastructure
Strong understanding of system integration involving web, software, and hardware platforms
Advanced system administration (Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory)
Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure,GCP)
Proficiency in automation and scripting (Python, Ansible, PowerShell, Bash)
Experience with security best practices (firewalls, IAM, patch management)
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to administer enterprise systems such as Microsoft M365, Active Directory/Group Policy, andOkta
Advanced understanding of various infrastructure and network technologies such as WAN/LAN, TCIPIP, DHCP, DNS, VPN, Windows Server operating systems
Understanding of Disaster recovery and business continuity planning procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
4-6 years of hands-on experience in network and systems administration
Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and basic networking principles
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and system hardening practices
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
