I am on the look for a GCP Specialist/SME to come and join one of my consultancy clients on a new project in the defence sector.
This is a:
12 month engagement,
Outside of IR35
paying upwards of PS700 a day.
* Please note you must hold active clearance either at SC or DV level.
You will act as a subject matter expert across cloud architecture, engineering and the GCP teams, helping design, implement, and optimise secure, scalable GCP solutions in a high-assurance environment.
This is a key technical consulting role requiring someone who is confident working within secure settings, engaging with senior stakeholders, and guiding technical delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the GCP SME across architecture, engineering, and delivery teams
Design and implement secure GCP cloud solutions aligned with Defence standards
Provide consulting expertise on best practices, cost optimisation, and scalability
Support cloud migration strategies and infrastructure modernisation
Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Architecture teams on GCP integration
Ensure compliance with security, governance, and regulatory frameworks
Mentor team members and contribute to capability development
Required Skills & Experience
Proven hands-on experience in GCP design, engineering, or consulting
Strong knowledge of GCP services (Compute, Networking, Security, IAM, Kubernetes, etc.)
Background working in complex, enterprise-scale environments
Experience in Defence or other high-security government sectors
Excellent stakeholder engagement and consultancy skills
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (eg, Terraform)
Any Google Certifications are highly desirable but not necessary
