The Opportunity
Altacent is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our dynamic technology team focused on application maintenance, transformation, and data integration. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and brings an engineering mindset of bold ambition, curiosity, and outcome-driven focus. You'll play a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of our systems while shaping best practices across observability, monitoring, alerting, and automation.
What You'll Do
Define and drive the vision for our SRE product suite--including monitoring, alerting, self-healing, and reliability testing.
Lead cross-functional initiatives to implement best-in-class practices for logging, monitoring, and incident response.
Serve as a portfolio SME, documenting core components, infrastructure, and functionalities of supported applications.
Participate in the deployment of software applications, automation tools, and infrastructure.
Collaborate with development teams to assess code changes and ensure production readiness.
Champion automation and continuous improvement across SRE processes to boost operational efficiency.
Influence technical strategy for future deployments, advocating for performance and reliability enhancements.
Lead incident and problem management efforts, including root cause analysis and resolution ownership.
Troubleshoot production issues across the stack and provide primary operational support.
Provide occasional off-hours support as needed.
Must-Have Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience.
5+ years in IT--software development, SRE, or DevOps engineering.
5+ years building Java Spring Boot applications and REST APIs.
Experience with relational databases (MS-SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB, SingleStore) and in-memory distributed databases.
Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes (Azure Kubernetes or OpenShift preferred).
Strong Git skills and experience with CI tools like Jenkins or UCD.
Familiarity with both Windows and Linux environments.
5+ years developing cloud-native applications in Java or Python.
Skilled in SQL query writing and performance tuning.
Experience with centralized logging (Splunk, ELK preferred) and monitoring tools (Dynatrace, etc.).
Hands-on experience deploying cloud-native apps in private (OpenShift) or public cloud (Azure/AWS preferred).
Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to production issue management.
Self-starter with a passion for working across complex enterprise environments.
Financial services domain knowledge
Nice-to-Haves
Experience building dashboards for performance visualization (Grafana preferred).
Exposure to data warehouses (Informatica, Snowflake, Databricks) and BI tools (SAP BO or similar).
Experience creating runbooks, reliability test plans, and performance processes.
Familiarity with PagerDuty, Postman, ServiceNow, SonarQube, NexusIQ, and vault tools.
Exposure to event brokers (Kafka, IBM-MQ), mainframe environments, and disaster recovery exercises.
