About The Job

As an Information Security Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security and integrity of our information systems and data. In this position, you will actively monitor and assess Umbra's cybersecurity environment, conduct vulnerability assessments, and enhance our security policies to protect against potential threats. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement security best practices and promote a culture of security awareness within the organization. Our aim is to hire this position to work in either our Santa Barbara/Goleta, CA office or Arlington, VA office.

Key Responsibilities

Under the oversight of the Corporate Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM), conduct risk and vulnerability assessments and recommend mitigation strategies to protect sensitive information systems and data.
Evaluate the effectiveness of current security tools and technologies, making recommendations for improvement.
Assist in developing and implementing security policies and procedures to reduce risk and enhance overall security posture.
Provide training and awareness programs to staff to promote security best practices across the organization.
Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to ensure security is integrated into system design and architecture.
Maintain and update security documentation, including incident response plans, security policies, and procedures.
Implement security tools and technologies to enhance monitoring, detection, and incident response capabilities.
Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies, providing recommendations for improvements as needed.
Other professional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Relevant specialized experience can substitute in lieu of degree.
3+ years of experience in information security or a related domain.
Strong understanding of security frameworks, protocols, and best practices.
Experience using security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability assessment tools.
Ability to analyze security incidents and develop effective response strategies.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills to convey security concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Willingness to obtain relevant security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)) within a designated timeframe.

Desired Qualifications

Experience in a space or defense-related organization is a plus.
Knowledge of compliance standards relevant to the cybersecurity industry (e.g., NIST 800-171, CMMC).
Experience with cloud security concepts and best practices.
Experience working with software development, DevSecOps teams.
Prior experience working in incident response or risk management roles.
