About the Opportunity
Optomi, in partnership with a global entertainment leader, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the backend engineering team. This role is focused on building and optimizing large-scale backend systems, microservices, and data pipelines that power critical identity, commerce, and login functionality across platforms. The ideal candidate is a hands-on backend engineer experienced in Java, Scala, and AWS, with a passion for scalable distributed systems and collaboration in high-performing teams.

Responsibilities of the Right Candidate:
• Design, develop, and maintain Java and Scala-based microservices supporting login, subscription, and identity systems.
• Build and optimize distributed, event-driven systems leveraging AWS, DynamoDB, Redis, and Kafka.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to build scalable ETL and data pipelines using Spark, Databricks, and Python.
• Design APIs and service integrations ensuring low latency, high throughput, and reliability.
• Partner with product, data science, and platform teams to deliver seamless backend experiences for streaming users.
• Contribute to architectural discussions, code reviews, and continuous integration/deployment practices.
• Ensure systems are highly available, secure, and scalable to meet growing traffic demands.
Experience of the Right Candidate:
• 6+ years of backend software engineering experience, ideally in high-scale streaming or e-commerce environments.
• Strong proficiency in Java (SpringBoot, Spring Framework) and experience with Scala or Python.
• Deep understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and message-based architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong database skills – DynamoDB, Redis, and relational systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Experience with Apache Kafka, Kinesis, or similar messaging technologies.
• Familiarity with Databricks and Spark for large-scale data workflows (nice to have).
• Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, and identity workflows.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
