Location: Toronto
The Canadian Press is seeking a full-time Visuals Editor for a three-month term to handle photo editing, package photo/video content and oversee video production. We are looking for someone with a background in visual journalism and strong news judgment, along with a demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple ongoing tasks. The successful candidate will be a creative thinker, able to produce compelling content that leverages a wide variety of sources such as photographs, video and social media content. They will be skilled in photo editing programs including Photoshop and Photo Mechanic, as well as video editing software such as Adobe Premiere. They must have a good aptitude for learning new technology.
This position involves shift work including weekends, nights and holidays.
Responsibilities:
Edit images from Canadian Press' staff and freelance photographers, along with photos from other sources. This includes captioning photos in proper Canadian Press style, cropping and toning of images where required
Remote edit live-from-camera photos from photographers on assignment
Support photo and video coverage planning
Pursue photos and video from a variety of sources, including social media
Effectively follow news tips and generate visual story ideas
Oversee the production of news videos from idea to publication
Review video material gathered and produced by Canadian Press reporters and photographers
Write/edit video caption metadata information
Create and curate photo and video products online
Skills:
Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadline
Strong knowledge of photography and digital camera equipment
Strong knowledge of videography and video editing processes
Strong knowledge of computers and imaging, networking and transmission software
Attention to detail
Strong news judgment and knowledge of all types of news: sports, general, political
Excellent communication and organizational skills.Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team
Fluency in both official languages would be an asset
Requirements:
University, Community college/CEGEP program in photojournalism
3-5 years of experience working in a daily news environment; experience with a news agency would be an asset
Must be able to work unpredictable hours, weekends, off-hours as news coverage demands

Nous recherchons une personne ayant une expérience en journalisme visuel et un bon jugement en matière de nouvelles, ainsi qu'une capacité démontrée à prioriser plusieurs tâches en cours. La personne choisie fera preuve de créativité et sera capable de produire un contenu captivant qui tire parti d'une grande variété de sources telles que les photographies, les vidéos et le contenu des médias sociaux. Responsabilités :
