Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced E&I Construction Package Lead to support the delivery of a large-scale waste-to-energy facility currently progressing through the Detailed Design phase. This is a key position that bridges the gap between design development and construction execution, ensuring quality, constructability, and seamless integration between engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
The role will begin with a London office–based period (6–9 months), focused on overseeing design coordination, providing construction-led input into engineering deliverables, and supporting the development of construction strategies and workpacks.
Following this, the position will transition to the construction site in Mold, North Wales, where the successful candidate will take a lead role in ensuring that electrical and instrumentation scopes are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project objectives.
This role offers involvement in a high-value, complex project with long-term work stability, excellent visibility, and significant responsibility within a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities
Construction Leadership & Delivery
Lead the safe and timely preparation and execution of the E&I construction scope, ensuring compliance with project HSEQ standards, site procedures, and safety targets.
Demonstrate visible safety leadership on a daily basis—actively engaging with teams, reinforcing safety behaviours, and driving an incident-free culture.
Provide construction oversight during the Detailed Design phase, ensuring design deliverables support safe, efficient construction methodologies.
Develop, review, and approve E&I construction strategies, workpacks, and procedures across all delivery phases.
Design Interface & Constructability
Interface closely with engineering teams to ensure all E&I engineering deliverables (including P&IDs, SLDs, drawings, and datasheets) meet project requirements and align with AWP methodology.
Lead constructability reviews, identifying opportunities for optimisation and supporting the resolution of engineering design issues.
Ensure design changes are fully assessed for construction impact and coordinated across disciplines.
Planning, Workpacks & AWP
Manage and review AWP (Advanced Work Packaging) construction workpacks, confirming readiness in terms of materials, tooling, safety, sequencing, access, and constructability.
Assess and escalate any potential construction growth, ensuring approved adjustments are reflected within project schedules and estimates.
Collaborate with Planning and Project Controls to accurately forecast labour, progress, and resource demands.
Coordination & Interface Management
Coordinate closely with civil, mechanical, and commissioning teams to avoid work clashes and ensure smooth sequencing across disciplines.
Act as the key interface between Construction, Engineering, Procurement, and Subcontracts throughout design and execution.
Support site surveys, walkdowns, and multidisciplinary meetings to ensure alignment on construction readiness.
Project Engagement & Communication
Attend daily, weekly, and monthly project meetings, providing clear updates on E&I work scope, risks, and progress.
Communicate effectively with project management, stakeholders, and client-side representatives, escalating issues early to support project delivery.
Identify and drive opportunities for early wins, efficiency improvements, and risk mitigation across the construction scope.
Qualifications & Experience

Minimum HNC in an engineering-related subject, or equivalent technical apprenticeship with supporting qualifications.
10+ years’ experience in senior roles within the engineering construction industry.
Strong background in E&I construction execution, ideally within major energy, industrial, or power generation projects.
