Objective of the Collaboration
As an Unreal Engine Developer collaborating with Insane Production, you will play a key role in building next-generation real-time interactive experiences. Your main objective will be to assemble, optimize, and deploy high-quality real-time 3D characters and environments, ensuring smooth performance, robust interactivity, and a polished user experience.
You will work closely with our 3D artists and backend/AI engineers to bridge artistic direction and real-time technical execution.
Key Responsibilities
Real-Time Character Implementation:
Integrate 3D characters into Unreal Engine, including skeletons, textures, Control Rig, and animation blueprints.
Animation Systems Setup:
Build clean and scalable animation State Machines, blendspaces, facial animation systems, and lip-sync pipelines.
Blueprint Development:
Develop interaction logic and event-driven behaviors using Blueprints (or C++ if relevant), ensuring smooth communication between systems.
Optimization & Performance:
Optimize lighting, materials, LODs, tick functions, and overall scene performance to guarantee stable, continuous real-time operation.
API & Backend Integration:
Connect Unreal Engine to external services using Websocket or REST APIs to trigger animations, states, and interactions.
Testing & Deployment:
Prepare builds for deployment, run QA tests, and ensure the project performs reliably on dedicated hardware.
Documentation & Collaboration:
Document workflows, maintain clean project structure, and collaborate efficiently with artists, designers, and developers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Proven Unreal Engine Expertise:
Minimum 2 years of experience working with UE4/UE5 on real-time productions (games, XR, virtual experiences, interactive installations, etc.).
Strong Blueprint Knowledge:
Mastery of Blueprint scripting, animation blueprints, event graphs, and actor/component logic.
Animation System Competence:
Experience with Control Rig, retargeting systems, State Machines, lip-sync pipelines, and real-time facial animation.
3D Integration Knowledge:
Comfortable with importing characters, managing skeletons, handling morph targets, and integrating animations.
Real-Time Optimization Skills:
Understanding of performance profiling, LOD workflows, shader complexity, and best practices for stable long-running builds.
API Integration Understanding:
Basic experience with Websocket or REST APIs for triggering interactions or receiving external data.
Autonomy & Problem Solving:
Ability to work independently, troubleshoot issues, and propose technical solutions.
