Job Specifications
Data Center Operations & Network Support Specialist
About The Role
We’re seeking a versatile IT professional to join our infrastructure team as a Data Center Operations & Network Support Specialist. In this role, you’ll oversee the day-to-day health of mission-critical systems spanning data centers, cloud environments, and enterprise networks. You’ll serve as the go-to resource for second-level support, server administration, and WAN troubleshooting while driving automation and process improvements across the environment.
What You’ll Do
Systems Monitoring & Administration: Act as the primary administrator for enterprise monitoring and management platforms, ensuring consistent configuration, alerting, and performance standards.
Server Support & Patching: Manage scheduled and emergency patching for on-premise and cloud-based servers, including vulnerability remediation and refresh/decommission cycles.
Network Operations: Troubleshoot and resolve second-level WAN and server issues leveraging established knowledge bases; create and maintain procedures for configuring site routers, access points, DHCP scopes, security lockdowns, and secure tunnel administration.
Backup & Recovery: Provide first and second-level support for enterprise data backup solutions, ensuring reliability, recovery readiness, and compliance with internal policies.
Automation & Process Improvement: Lead initiatives to streamline connectivity turn-ups, configuration updates, and other repeatable tasks through scripting and automation.
Inventory & Logistics: Manage and track broadband and wireless site routers and access points, including configuration, shipment, and documentation for field locations; produce clear procedural guides for less experienced team members.
Vendor Coordination: Interface with vendors to coordinate ordering, installation, maintenance, and servicing of data center equipment and systems.
Standardization: Configure new monitoring capabilities and establish naming conventions, baselines, and standardized settings for the systems under your stewardship.
What We’re Looking For
Associate’s degree in Computer Information Systems (or equivalent experience); Bachelor’s degree preferred.
1–3 years of hands-on experience in server administration, backups, patching, or networking support.
Familiarity with PowerShell required; proficiency strongly desired.
Practical experience with enterprise monitoring and management tools (such as SCOM, SolarWinds, NetBackup, Actifio, Cohesity, or similar).
Working knowledge of WAN technologies, router/AP configuration, and basic network concepts.
Additional Details
Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Participation in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours support when the data center is not staffed on site.
This position offers the chance to work across a wide spectrum of IT infrastructure—data center operations, cloud systems, and enterprise networks—while growing your skills in automation and process improvement. If you’re ready to take ownership of critical systems and help shape the future of our operations, we’d love to hear from you.
