Medior Java Engineer – (Belgium | Hybrid)

We are looking for a Medior Java Engineer to strengthen Agile engineering teams working on high-impact financial platforms. You will help build secure, scalable backend systems that support critical digital banking and financial services used by thousands of end users daily.

This role is ideal for developers who already have solid Java experience and want to grow further in complex enterprise environments, modern architectures, and financial technology.

Your Role

As a Medior Java Engineer, you will:

Design, develop and maintain backend services using Java & Spring Boot
Build and integrate secure, scalable microservices
Work with APIs, messaging systems and databases in a distributed environment
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and code quality
Collaborate closely with Product Owners, architects and fellow engineers
Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies
Support production stability, performance and reliability
Continuously improve solutions with a strong focus on security and maintainability

Your Skills & Experience

3–6 years of experience as a Java or backend developer
Strong hands-on experience with:
Java (11+ or 17+)
Spring & Spring Boot
REST APIs & microservices
Good knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL)
Experience with Git, Maven/Gradle
Basic understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices
Cloud exposure (Azure, AWS or GCP) is a plus
Interest in financial systems, payments, or trading platforms is a strong asset
Strong analytical thinking and communication skills

Nice to Have

Experience with:
Event-driven systems (Kafka, MQ)
Docker & Kubernetes
Security concepts (OAuth, IAM, encryption)
Prior experience in:
Banking, insurance, fintech or capital markets

Languages

Fluent English
Dutch or French is a strong advantage
