Infrastructure Engineer (MSP)

Onsite – Cambridge

3-Month Contract | Outside IR35

£400 per day

We are recruiting an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to support an MSP client on a 3-month onsite contract in Cambridge. This is a hands-on, infrastructure-focused role supporting a production environment hosted on AWS, with responsibility across servers, networking, and core IT services.

Key Responsibilities

Day-to-day support and maintenance of infrastructure hosted on AWS
Managing and supporting Windows Server environments
Administration of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
Server builds, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management
Troubleshooting infrastructure issues across servers, storage, and networking
Supporting backup, disaster recovery, and system availability
Handling 2nd / 3rd line escalations from service desk teams
Working within MSP SLAs, incident, change, and problem management processes
Providing on-site technical support and working closely with client stakeholders

Required Experience

Proven Infrastructure Engineer experience within an MSP environment
Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server and core infrastructure
Experience supporting infrastructure hosted in AWS
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls)
Confident in troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues
Strong communication skills and ability to work onsite with clients

Desirable

Exposure to AWS services used for infrastructure hosting
Experience with backup, monitoring, and security tooling
Previous contract experience

This role suits an infrastructure-first engineer who is comfortable working onsite, supporting a live MSP environment, and maintaining stable, secure systems hosted on AWS.
