3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer (AWS / Windows)
Salary: £45,000 DOE + bonus & benefits
Location: Cannock, Staffordshire (hybrid working)

They are now looking for an experienced 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer to join a well-established IT function. This is a hands-on role with a significant focus on AWS, where cloud infrastructure will form a key part of your day-to-day responsibilities alongside a solid Windows and on-prem background.

What you’ll be doing
Acting as a 3rd line escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents and service requests
Supporting and maintaining AWS-hosted infrastructure, with AWS forming a core part of the role
Supporting EC2-based workloads
Managing backups and recovery processes
Assisting with cloud improvements and optimisation
Supporting and maintaining Windows Server environments (2016+), including full installation, configuration, and ongoing support
Managing core services such as Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and server security/patching
Troubleshooting complex issues across on-prem and cloud platforms
Assisting with infrastructure upgrades, improvements, and technical documentation
Participating in disaster recovery testing and an on-call rota
Working closely with other IT teams to deliver stable, reliable services
What we’re looking for
Essential experience:
Strong background as a 3rd Line Infrastructure / Server Engineer
Hands-on AWS experience, supporting and operating live workloads in production environments
Proven experience with Windows Server (2016 or later) in enterprise settings
Solid understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and networking fundamentals
Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
Nice to have (but not essential):
Some scripting or automation experience (PowerShell and/or Python)
Exposure to other cloud platforms such as Azure or GCP
Basic Linux administration experience
Experience working in hybrid on-prem / cloud environments
