Location: Calgary, AB (Hybrid)
Reports to: Executive Vice President, Operations
MEMS is seeking a Director, Information Systems to provide enterprise leadership and strategic direction for our information systems, technology platforms, and digital infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring MEMS’ systems are secure, reliable, scalable, and aligned with business strategy, while enabling staff productivity, scientific defensibility, and client delivery across Canada.
As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director contributes to organizational planning, risk management, and long‑term sustainability, partnering closely with executive and operational leaders to ensure technology investments deliver real business value.
Key Responsibilities
Lead MEMS’ enterprise Information Systems (IS) strategy, governance, and multi‑year technology roadmap
Oversee reliable delivery of IS services, including infrastructure, cloud platforms, enterprise applications, networks, and end‑user support
Direct cybersecurity, privacy, and technology risk management programs
Lead technology planning, system implementations, and digital transformation initiatives
Ensure strong data systems, integrity, governance, and regulatory compliance
Manage IS budgets, vendor relationships, and major technology contracts
Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing Information Systems team with a strong service mindset
Champion continuous improvement, resilience, and operational excellence across all systems
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or equivalent
10–15+ years of progressive leadership experience in Information Systems / IT
Proven experience in enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and systems architecture
Experience leading technical teams in complex, multi‑site environments
Strong knowledge of Microsoft ecosystem, SQL, networking, and modern enterprise platforms
Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into effective technology solutions
Excellent communication, leadership, and change‑management skills
