Internship Overview
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is seeking a detail-oriented, motivated student to join our Development Team for a year-long internship. This role is ideal for students interested in the "behind-the-scenes" power of nonprofit work: fundraising strategy, donor relations, and grant management.
As a Donor Stewardship & Grant Management Intern, you will play a vital role in ensuring our supporters feel valued and our grant-funded projects remain on track. You will gain hands-on experience in how a national nonprofit manages its most critical assets—its relationships and its funding.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Relations & Stewardship
Acknowledge & Appreciate: Assist with donor thank-you letters, personalized acknowledgments, and stewardship communications.
Database Management: Track donor gifts and engagement activities within our CRM (Salesforce) to ensure accurate records.
Recognition: Support efforts to provide donors with impact reports and updates on how their contributions are fighting pediatric cancer.
Grant Management
Compliance & Tracking: Help maintain grant calendars, deadlines, and reporting schedules.
Reporting: Assist in preparing documentation, summaries, and impact data for foundation and corporate funders.
Research: Support the Development team in identifying new potential grant opportunities to fund future research.
Administrative & Data Support
Maintain accurate records in our grant management systems.
Assist with data entry, list pulls, and basic development reporting.
Support the broader Development team with general administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Student Status: Current student or recent graduate (Applicants must have just completed their 1st or 2nd year of college).
Major: Preferred focus in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Administration, or related fields.
Skills: Strong written communication, high attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential info with discretion.
Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
Bonus Points: Experience with Salesforce or previous nonprofit/customer-facing experience is a plus!
