Contract: ~3 months, Immediate Start

Department: Finance

Reports to: CFO

The Role:

A professional services organisation is seeking an AI Enablement Lead on a 3-month contract to advise and guide its Finance function on the effective adoption of Microsoft Copilot and related AI tools.

This role will operate as a hands-on internal consultant, supporting Finance leadership and teams in using AI to streamline processes, improve insight, and modernise ways of working. The emphasis is on practical, governed, and value-driven use of Copilot, ensuring the Finance function is positioned ahead of the curve rather than reacting to change.

Key Responsibilities:

AI Strategy & Enablement

Advise Finance leadership on how best to deploy Microsoft Copilot to enhance finance and accounting activities.
Identify high-impact finance use cases where AI can drive efficiency, insight, and improved decision-making.
Translate AI capabilities into practical workflows aligned to existing finance processes.

Advisory & Best Practice

Bring proven experience of advising organisations on the adoption and use of Copilot within business functions.
Recommend best-practice approaches that balance innovation with control, accuracy, and reliability.
Provide pragmatic guidance on what AI should and should not be used for in a finance context.

Prompting & Capability Building

Define and document effective prompting techniques tailored to finance and accounting scenarios.
Coach finance teams on how to interact with Copilot to achieve consistent, high-quality outputs.
Develop reusable examples, guidance, and playbooks to support long-term capability.

Governance, Risk & Controls

Establish clear AI usage and governance principles for the Finance function.
Ensure AI-assisted outputs align with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory expectations.
Partner with Technology, Risk, and Legal stakeholders to ensure responsible and secure AI use.

Knowledge Transfer & Sustainability

Ensure frameworks, documentation, and guidance are in place to support ongoing use of Copilot beyond the contract.
Leave the Finance function with clear standards and confidence in AI-enabled ways of working.

Skills & Experience:

Essential

Demonstrable experience advising organisations on the adoption and effective use of Microsoft Copilot or comparable AI productivity tools.
Strong understanding of finance and accounting processes and how AI can enhance them.
Experience working in a consultancy, transformation, or advisory capacity.
Ability to engage credibly with senior finance stakeholders.
Solid understanding of AI governance, risk, and control considerations in a regulated environment.

Desirable

Background in finance transformation, operating model design, or process optimisation.
Experience introducing new ways of working within established finance teams.
Familiarity with UK accounting, audit, or regulatory environments.
