Senior Azure Data Engineer - Wealth Management (Outside IR35, 9-Month Contract, Hybrid London)

A leading UK Wealth Management firm undergoing a major digital and data transformation programme is seeking an experienced Senior Azure Data Engineer to design and deliver a greenfield, end-to-end data warehouse and analytics platform.
This position is a hands-on, lead engineering role requiring deep Azure expertise, architectural decision-making experience, and a strong background within wealth & asset management data environments.Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and delivery of a full Azure-based data warehouse and medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold).
Drive architectural decisions (integration patterns, dimensional models, API frameworks) and produce ADRs.
Build secure, scalable source integrations across file, database, and API endpoints.
Develop robust batch + incremental ELT/ETL pipelines.
Implement governance, data quality, and monitoring frameworks.
Collaborate with cross-functional business and engineering teams.

Data Architecture & Modelling

Delivered end-to-end DWH solutions as a senior or lead engineer.
Medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold).
Dimensional modelling (Kimball), SCD Type 2, star schemas.
Master Data Management (MDM), entity resolution, golden-record definition.
Integration & Pipelines

Batch + incremental ETL/ELT pipelines.
Robust file ingestion (CSV/XLS) with validation + error handling.
SQL Server replication strategies (snapshot and delta).
Partitioning for performance optimisation.
REST API development for optimised Real Time query access.
Quality, Governance & Security

End-to-end source-to-target validation.
Exception & data quality reporting frameworks.
Azure RBAC, Managed Identities, Key Vault.
Strong understanding of PII handling, audit trails, RLS.
DevOps

Git/branching strategies.
IaC (Terraform/ARM templates).
CI/CD automation for data platform components.
Nice to Have

Dataverse
Streaming/Real Time data delivery
Wealth & Asset Management expertise
Experience with systems like Curo CRM or SS&C Hubwise

Length: 9-month initial contract
Status: Outside IR35
Location: Hybrid London (1-2 days a week with flexibility)
