Location: Hybrid – Toronto, ON (4 days onsite)

Role Overview

Seeking an HR Analyst II to support payroll operations and year-end processing activities within a large enterprise environment. This role focuses on payroll tax compliance, expatriate payroll support, reconciliation, and ensuring data accuracy within Workday systems.

Key Responsibilities

Support year-end payroll activities including balancing tax slips and completing government filings

Manage payroll processing for expatriate and globally mobile employees, including shadow payroll

Participate in internal and external payroll audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

Provide specialized payroll support for executive and Board of Directors’ compensation

Review and reconcile payroll data, including tax corrections and variance reporting

Ensure accuracy and integrity of Workday HR/Payroll data through validation and testing

Prepare and process manual and amended tax slips as required

Handle payroll adjustments, off-cycle processing, and cheque reversals

Respond to employee inquiries through ServiceNow and resolve payroll-related issues

Run and analyze PIER/variance reports to identify and correct discrepancies

Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance payroll processes and accuracy

Required Qualifications

3–4 years of experience in payroll, HR analytics, or related field

Strong knowledge of Canadian federal/provincial payroll regulations and U.S. payroll requirements (CRA, Revenu Québec, IRS)

Hands-on experience with Workday (Payroll and HR systems), including reporting and year-end processes

Experience with report reconciliation and payroll data validation

Advanced Excel skills

Experience supporting expatriate payroll (minimum 3 years)

Strong communication and analytical skills

High attention to detail and accuracy

Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, or related field

Nice to Have

Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or in progress

Experience working in a large enterprise organization

Soft Skills

Strong organizational and time management skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities

Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams
