About

Neoplants is a biotech start-up founded by Lionel (Ex Google) and Patrick (PhD Genetic Editing, ENS), working on the first generation of bio-engineered plants to fight air pollution. We're starting with indoor air pollution, which is up to 5 times higher than outdoors, and is caused by a specific type of pollutant called VOCs. We create plants capable of effectively remediate these compounds in your home (up to 30 times more effective than traditional plants). Our longer-term ambition is to leverage our technologies for other large-scale applications, such as CO2 capture and storage. We are backed by top tier Silicon Valley and European investors and we are currently based in Paris, France.

Job Description

At Neoplants, the Biotechnology Research Engineer is working in a multidisciplinary team to boost the speed of our research and optimize our scientific strategy. Among other things, he / she works creating and executing multidisciplinary projects.

Main Missions (but Not Limited To)

Create and deliver complex plasmids
Acts as a go to person in molecular biology training new employees & interns
Report and discuss results with the manager and propose next steps
Troubleshoot high technical problems autonomously
Ensure our molecular biology databases and documentations are up to date
Support in the various molecular biology and biochemistry efforts such as plasmid construction and protein evolution and purification & activity assays
Implement various new biotechnology tools
Support in the various plant biology efforts, such as plant transformation and cell culture

Required

Preferred Experience

Engineering degree or Master degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology or a related field
Experience in molecular biology techniques: DNA and plasmid construction, cloning, RE digestion and ligation, PCR, primer, design, maxi and mini-preps, DNA purification, qRT-PCR, analytical chemistry etc
Experience in protein evolution and purification
Scientific curiosity and action- driven mindset
Great interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency in English
