About the Role:
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Business Analyst with a background in think tank, research, or policy environments to join our client in London's team. This role involves working with large, complex datasets to support evidence-based decision-making, policy development, and strategic initiatives.
The ideal candidate will bring strong quantitative analysis skills, a deep understanding of data modeling, and the ability to communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and interpret large-scale datasets to identify trends, correlations, and actionable insights in support of policy and strategic research.
Translate complex business and research requirements into structured data queries and models.
Work closely with researchers, economists, and subject matter experts to define data needs and refine data collection methods.
Build dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate key findings using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Python/R.
Assist in the design and implementation of data strategies, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and security of data.
Collaborate with external partners and internal stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver impactful analytical solutions.
Conduct data validation and ensure integrity across multiple data sources.
Participate in cross-functional research initiatives that inform public policy, social programs, or economic recommendations.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Data Business Analyst or similar role, ideally in a think tank, research institute, academic, or nonprofit setting.
Proficiency in working with large datasets (mass data) and complex databases.
Strong knowledge of SQL, Python, R, Excel, and data visualization platforms such as Power BI or Tableau.
Excellent analytical thinking with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
Strong communication and presentation skills; able to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
Demonstrated experience working with cross-disciplinary teams in research or data-driven environments.
Familiarity with data governance, privacy regulations, and ethical use of data.
Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
