Our client Hogarth are looking for a senior and experienced RML Developer who will be on secondment at TalkTalk Telecommunications Group Limited. We need someone who can analyse current communications, converting existing letter layouts to the Report Markup Language (RML) format and working with HTML developers. The role will primarily focus on RML coding and converting existing letter layouts, with approximately 80% of the time dedicated to this activity, versus understanding pre-defined letter layout requirements.

What level of RML expertise is required?

The role requires strong RML experience to support TalkTalk's migration to Kraken. The majority of TalkTalk emails will have a corresponding printed letter backup, requiring existing letter layouts to be converted to RML.

Will there be ongoing maintenance and development of RML templates?

Yes, there will be as TalkTalk have just implemented Kraken operating system to improve their customer communications and experience.

Responsibilities

Understanding business needs:
Collaborating with stakeholders to understand the business context, goals, and objectives. Letter layout analysis and documentation: Working with various stakeholders to analyse and document existing letter layouts, using diagrams or other visual aids as needed.

Requirements elicitation and documentation:
Working with various stakeholders to gather and document requirements, using RML diagrams to visually represent the requirements.

RML model development:
Creating and maintaining RML templates to define the layout and content of letter.

Requirements analysis and specification:
Letter layout analysis and specification: Analysing existing letter layouts to understand their structure and content, and specifying how they should be implemented in RML.

Communication and collaboration:
Communicating the requirements clearly to the development team, stakeholders, and other relevant parties, ensuring everyone understands the project goals and objectives.

Stakeholder management:
Managing stakeholder expectations, addressing concerns, and ensuring alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

Test case development and testing:
Contributing to the development of test cases and supporting testing activities to ensure that the developed system meets the business needs.

Risk management:
Identifying and assessing potential risks associated with the project and developing mitigation strategies.

In essence, an experienced RML Developer using RML who will confidently be a bridge between the TalkTalk Customer Marketing team, business and technology, ensuring that the final product meets the business's requirements and goals. They are crucial for successful software development projects, particularly those involving complex requirements and inter-disciplinary teams.
