Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled 3rd Line Desktop IT Engineer for a contracting role in the Defence sector. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in infrastructure and desktop support, with a strong background in resolving complex technical issues. This role requires the ability to commute to our Stevenage office on a hybrid basis and offers excellent day rates.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide advanced technical support for desktop and infrastructure issues, ensuring timely resolution
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex technical problems, escalating when necessary
Manage and maintain desktop environments, including hardware and software configurations
Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and support of systems
Implement and maintain security protocols and procedures in line with Defence sector requirements
Prepare and present technical documentation and reports to stakeholders
Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
Support the deployment and maintenance of IT infrastructure projects
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior IT staff

Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in infrastructure and desktop support
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to commute to Stevenage on a hybrid basis
Security Clearance (SC) preferred
British nationality is required

Preferred Skills:

Experience in the Defence sector or related industries
Familiarity with ITIL processes and best practices
Knowledge of network and server administration
Proficiency with various desktop operating systems and software applications
