The Head of Operations is a key leadership position responsible for the effective running, coordination, and strategic development of the Guild’s day-to-day operations.
Working closely with the Chair, Core Committee, and Office Management Team, the Head of Operations ensures the Guild functions efficiently, delivers high-quality services, and continues to grow in line with its mission.
This role is both strategic and hands-on: overseeing operations, supporting membership services, managing organisational processes, and working across all areas of the Guild to ensure smooth delivery of activities, events, and initiatives.
HEAD OF OPERATIONS
The Head of Operations is a part time, hybrid role of 20 hours per week across
Monday - Friday and located between the office at Pinewood Studios and home.
Salary is £59, 280 (FTE) £29,640 (actual)

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Lead the day-to-day operations of the BFDG, ensuring high standards of efficiency,
consistency, communication and professionalism.
Work closely with the Chair and Core Committee to implement organisational
strategy, growth and support the long-term vision for the Guild, along with the
Strategy Committee.
Maintain and develop operational policies, procedures, and workflows to support a
growing membership and expanding programme of activity.
Manage internal systems and processes, ensuring they are fit for purpose and
aligned with the Guild’s needs.
Team Management & Coordination
Line-manage and support the Office Management Team, fostering a positive,
collaborative working culture.
Coordinate workloads, schedules, and priorities across the team to ensure smooth
functioning of all Guild activities.
Provide oversight and support for key administrative areas including membership,
events, finance processes, communications, and governance.Membership Services
Ensure delivery of high-quality services to members and support the Membership
Manager in overseeing the member lifecycle from application to renewal.
Monitor and improve the membership experience, including digital platforms and user
journeys.
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the membership system, working
with external service providers as necessary.
Financial & Governance Support
Work with the Accountant, Treasurer and Chair on financial planning, contracts,
budgeting, and reporting.
Ensure compliance with the Guild’s legal, financial, and data protection obligations.
Events & Programmes
Oversee operational delivery of Guild events including the BFDG Awards, training
sessions, screenings, and national networking and events.
Support teams and committees in planning and executing new initiatives and
partnerships.
Manage timelines, logistics, suppliers, and administrative frameworks for key annual
events.
Stakeholder & Industry Engagement
Maintain effective relationships with industry partners, educational institutions,
sponsors, and service providers.
Represent the Guild professionally at industry events and meetings where required.
Support the development of new partnerships and opportunities that benefit
members.
Digital & Systems
Oversee the Guild’s digital assets including website, membership platform,
communications tools, and data storage.
Coordinate improvements and system developments, ensuring digital platforms
remain efficient and user-friendly, whilst adhering to data protection guidelines.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Strong operational or organisational management experience.
Excellent organisational and business skills.
Experience managing staff and coordinating teams.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery.
Strong problem-solving abilities and an adaptable, proactive approach.
Comfortable handling budgets, financial processes, and reporting.
High level of professionalism, discretion, and reliability.Desirable
Experience working in or alongside the film, television, events, or creative industries.
Experience working within a similar membership body.
Understanding of Film & TV Art Departments, and its many grades.
