About The Role

We’re hiring an Associate Financial Planner to join our team at Frazer James to report to our Managing Director. We’re currently experiencing a strong growth phase, building capacity for the clients we expect to bring on board over the next 12–24 months. We operate two client-facing teams: a new business and a servicing team, supported by dedicated staff. This is a remote role within the UK with occasional travel to Bristol.

You’ll start as an Associate Financial Planner, supporting a Lead Financial Planner within an existing team. In this phase, your responsibilities will be split approximately 65% Associate Financial Planner tasks (attending client meetings, supporting the Financial Planner, and taking on your own client-facing work under supervision) and 35% paraplanning tasks (preparing reports and technical research).

Over the first 12 months, your role will evolve so that you spend 100% of your time as an Associate Financial Planner. Beyond this, you will progress to Lead Financial Planner within approximately 12–18 months thereafter, taking full responsibility for your own clients and forming your own team, complete with a dedicated paraplanner and administrator.

This is a remote-first position, allowing you to work from anywhere in the UK, with occasional travel to Bristol for quarterly team meet-ups and and the very occasional client meeting.

This staged approach ensures you gain the right experience, autonomy, and team leadership at each stage while preparing to run your own client-facing team.

What You’ll Be Doing:

First 12 Months:

Client Meeting Participation: Attend all meetings as an active participant, not just an observer. This involvement will help you understand client needs, contribute to discussions, and effectively communicate complex financial concepts. As your role evolves, you will increasingly contribute actively to these meetings.
Paraplanning Support: You will have paraplanning responsibilities, particularly for new business opportunities. This will include preparing suitability reports, conducting technical research, and providing paraplanning support across the advice process to ensure high-quality, compliant client outcomes.
Shadowing and Mentorship: Closely shadow the Financial Planners, gaining valuable insights into client interactions, meeting dynamics, and advanced financial planning techniques.
Professional Development: Stay updated with industry trends and progress towards Chartered/CFP status.
Client Advice: Prepare for, contribute to, and lead client meetings alongside senior planners, delivering tailored, compliant advice.
File Ownership: Ensure all client files are complete, compliant, and suitable — nothing missing, nothing unsuitable, and nothing left to chance.
Strategic Planning: Identify planning opportunities, develop recommendations, and create actionable strategies for clients.
Implementation Oversight: Coordinate with administrators and paraplanners to ensure smooth plan execution.
Annual Reviews: Update plans, agendas, and meeting notes for existing clients.
Client Communication: Build strong client relationships via email, secure messaging, phone, and in meetings.
Attend Client Meetings: Join cli
